Alpha Course SR | Celebration Dinner

Just wanted to invite you all to the Celebration Dinner at Central City Community Church on November 17th, Friday-starts at 6pm.
As we conclude our second term.

A great opportunity to see what God's doing with the Alpha Course in Skid Row. And also to meet the folks from Central City Community Church.

So stop by for a little or for the whole time.

Information: Goals of Skid Row SCI

As most of you already know, Skid Row in LA is slowly changing.
Here's info taken from the City of Los Angeles Skid Row Safer City Initiative (SCI):

1. Cleaner Streets
2. Restore sense of law and order
3. Reduce availability of illegal drugs
4. Protect the most vulnerable from criminal predators
5. Eliminate gang presence in and influence over Skid Row.
6. Abate health hazards- created by people camping on sidewalks and in streets.
7. Connect persons who need/want and would benefit from assistance with appropriate services.
8. Protect rights of law abiding occupants of resident hotels and other affordable housing.
9. Protect personal property of homeless persons against theft as well as inadvertent seizure and destruction.
10. End practice of "Homeless Patient Dumping".
11. Make full use of all available shelter beds.
12. Improve appearance of streets and other public areas.
13. Improve relations betweent different socioeconomic groups residing in Skid Row area.
14. Allow for Downtown Economic Expansion to continue without impinging on rights or adding to the plight of the less fortunate.
15. Demonstrate long term commitment by city agencies to identify, address and solve problems of all Skid Row residents and stakeholders.

Enhancement components:
1. Increase streets and sidewalk cleaning
2. Improve lighting
3. Trim trees
4. Unclog storm drains
5. Remove trash and bulky items
6. Expand City Attorney's "Excess Personal Property Warehouse Project" and provide additional storage for homeless person belongings.
7. Requirements for resident hotels
