Congrats to General Jeff

We want to congratulate General Jeff for his recent election win to the Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council.

"...Skid Row advocate known as General Jeff. Returning board members say they are particularly pleased to see an increased presence of Skid Row area representatives.
"It was exciting to see people from Central City East and the homeless service groups and Skid Row finally, finally get involved," said Brown." (Downtown LA News)

Breaking from the norm

This past Sunday at Love LA, we tried something entirely different.

Here's an email that was sent out days before...

"We are trying something new this week at Love L.A....we have collectively decided to "try on" serving the food directly to the congregants while they are seated....the people on Skid Row are always standing in lines and some have expressed that it is degrading...We as a community need to lift up the community of Skid Row and serve them unconditionally...for this reason we will be providing food to them by interacting with them, enrolling them and "dwelling amongst" them...we encourage all to sit with the congregants during service and not stand in the back...we encourage you to make eye contact and smile...we encourage you to ask what their names are and thank them for being a part of our community....I am so thankful to have each and everyone of you as part of my community...Some concerns came up in regards to this new idea: will it be chaotic, what if people ask for more than one bag, will we have enough volunteers...etc., etc.,...let's have faith in the Lord...if we are coming from a place of serving, unconditional love and selflessness I proclaim in the name of Jesus that it will be an amazing experience for everyone!"
